Gemma Crane

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear friend Gemma Crane.
Gemma joined UCARE as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in urology and immediately brought a new energy to everything she touched. With her deep knowledge, unwavering dedication, and natural leadership, she helped shape and strengthen our mission around cancer awareness and education. She didn’t just do her job — she raised the bar for all of us.
A true work friend and the ultimate wingwoman to Val, the two of them shared a passion for lists, plans, and getting things done. Gemma brought her trademark energy and can-do spirit to every challenge. She was a powerhouse — calm, focused, and full of purpose. Her contribution to UCARE was immeasurable, and the impact she had on all of us, and the people she connected with, will be felt for a long time to come.
Even through illness, Gemma was inspiring. Her strength, grace, and determination were constant. She never let go of her commitment to her work or her care for her colleagues. In true Gemma style, she still made time for a cheeky WhatsApp, a moment of irreverent humour, or a word of encouragement. Her light-heartedness and warmth always shone through.
Gemma was a bright light — beautiful inside and out — taken far too soon. Her absence is deeply felt here at UCARE, but so is her presence, in everything she helped build and in the way she made us feel.
To Matt, her boys, and all of Gemma’s family and friends, we send our heartfelt condolences — and our sincere thanks for sharing her with us.
